The Group Metacognitive Training for Adolescents with Anxiety

The rigorous thesis is focused on the translation, creation and subsequent use of metacognitive training (MCT) in adolescents with anxiety in group therapy. The theoretical part deals with adolescence, anxiety and with description of metacognitive training. It is supplemented by a rich representation of current research about the mental health of adolescents and the effectiveness of metacognitive therapy applied in various mental disorders. According to existing trainings, the program created by us is divided into 8 modules, with a fixed structure, held once a week. Each module focuses on a specific topic that concerns anxiety, and worksheets for each module are also used for training. Using a quasi-experiment, we measured the current level of anxiety in the pretest and posttest using standardized method STAI, and the overall self-concept measured with PHCSCS-2. We found subjective feeling of anxiety, depression, a tendency to self-harm and difficulty attending school. A total of 7 participants participated in the experimental group and 8 participants were in the control group. Five parents filled in the pretest and posttest feedback.
